Sorry for delaying this post.
I have come to realize that it would be better if I create personal folders for all of you, where you can all upload your assignments. It's just that I cannot set them up until tomorrow (18 Sep, 2019).
For this reason,
(1) For the assignment from last week, the deadline will be extended. So no worries, I'll keep you posted as soon as I finish off the installation. (That said, you should still do it before the coming class this Thursday.)
(2) Having said that, you should still get prepared for the reading (pp.1-8) upon the arrival of the coursebook. I understand, because of the longer weekend, the delivery might not be as reasonably prompt. If it did not come in handy on time for your preview, simply remember to pack it to the class.

It is generally accepted that the definition of language varies from that of communication, so today I’m gonna start you off by listing the striking differences between them.
Firstly, (human) language is part of a communication process, whereby interlocutors are required to use at least one language to communicate with one another effectively. It plays a critical role because the composition of language is complex, involving different types of properties of humans' physiological (e.g., sound inventory) and psychological/neurological (e.g., sentence processing) applications into the process of inter-locution.
In contrast, communication is a wider concept embodied in the transmission of message, by which the parties involved in this process get their ideas across successfully. As such, communication is not limited to the use of language itself, but the idea can be stretched by different means of channels, such as non-verbal communication.
